DJane Elodie d'Angers
Based in Angers, France
Every music that touch me deeply, I need to dance it. Not only by moving in a free way on the music, but also by trying to learn the particular tecnic of the dance, no matter how complex it can be, like flamenco, the first dance I learnt. In 1997, watching Fernando Solanas movies, I felt in love with Piazzola music and decided that one day, I would learn tango dancing. This dream became true 10 years later, while I was working in Turkey, an amazing country for dance and music lovers. Thanks to great teachers, I was quikly able to dance in Ankara’s milongas, where I discover traditional tango, of course, but also the pleasure to dance on more contemporanean tangos, like those created by Piazzola and Narcotango for example.
For me, being able to express myself dancing on all kind of tango (« golden age », « nuevo » or « electro ») in a milonga was so natural that, after coming back in France, I had to find a place where I could find again that freedom and openmind mood. By chance, I could find it in Nantes, and later in Toulouse. Thanks to the « Nantes marathon » and the « Toulouse Neo Tango » team, and the great djs invited there, I discovered so many wonderfull musics that I wanted to share it with my friends. That’s how I became a tango djane, by chance, but also because I wanted to convince dancers that Nuevo Tango and alternative musics can be as beautiful to dance as traditional tango. Since 2018, I never stopped sharing my favorite music in local or international tango events, « mixt »( tradi/ Nuevo/ Neo) or 100% neo (like » Tango par la côte », « Flow tango », « TNT », Tangopostale », or « La copa Loca »…)
First and foremost a dancer, I pay great attention to the choice and sequencing of the pieces, as well as the coherence of the whole set . I enjoy building it like a musical rainbow, with a palette of emotions as rich as possible, succeeding one another harmoniously or contrastingly, depending on the pathes I wish to take the dancers, while remaining attentive to their energy. Sensitive to the magic of places and moments, I also like to choose the pieces according to the space, the moment and the light in which I have the oportunity to play, so that the wole allows the dancer to give their best and experience a unique moment.
